2025 will see a new bespoke organised club event for WVCC with an exciting 3 hour private boat charter in and around the harbour and waterways of the Poole harbour area which is reknowned for its amazing birdlife .
This exclusive 3-hour charter, hosted by the knowledgable and experienced Birds of Poole harbour team, offers a unique perspective of the harbour, unlocking birding opportunities unavailable from land and are complete with experienced Birds of Poole Harbour team commentary throughout.
This is an ideal field trip for anyone with a keen interest in birds,photography, natural history and an interest in Poole Harbour and its spectacular birdlife ...
Poole Harbour supports nationally and internationally important bird populations, providing stunning birding possibilities year-round.

In the summer migrant birds show fantastically and there will are opportunites to potentially photograph Ospreys, Hobbies, Cuckoos and visiting Tern species.
There is also plenty to see in Spring , when migration is in full swing and thousands of birds visit the harbour to rest and feed before they continue on their migratory journeys
whilst some species now thankfully see Poole Harbour as their home year-round and are exciting to see on any trip such as White-tailed Eagle, Marsh Harrier and Peregrine Falcon.

Due to the boat being used for the popular public cruises that run throughout the year from Poole harbour, the hire of the private charter is NOT available at weekends as this is their busiest period for public cruises around the harbour and Jurrasic coastline.

Please ensure to have a confirmed travel plan to Poole harbour in place prior to registering for the event

The private charter boat can accommodate up to 60 guests

On the advice of the team from Birds of Poole Harbour ,in order for us to all have sufficient room to comfortably move about on deck during the 3 hour cruise with our cameras and equipment , it is suggested to cap the total of our private group to a maximum of 50 participants.

The cost of this 3 hour private charter hire including the qualified expert team from Birds of Poole harbour is £1300

The cost of the private charter hire will be equally divided between the number of participants attending, as set out below .

In order to keep the cost down, club members are more than welcome to bring a guest with them in order for us to get as close to 50 guests as possible

As with all photography adventures with wildlife , there is no guaruntee of any particular bird species being visible during the cruise.

It is important to remember that the weather may also play a part in the day , in the unfortunate event of rain, the charter also has a lower inside area with windows to keep everyone dry .
